Dear students,

Thank you to everyone who took part in the 2026 National Student Survey (NSS), and to all students who continue to share feedback with us throughout the year.

The NSS is a UK-wide survey giving final-year undergraduate students the opportunity to reflect on their experience and help shape the future of the University. We’re pleased to share that this year’s results show positive progress, with improvements across a number of areas compared to last year. It’s also encouraging to see more students taking part than ever before, with a response rate of 76%.

This year’s results show satisfaction ratings have improved once again, particularly in areas such as:

  • Teaching on my Course is rated at 89.1% (from 87.5% last year)
  • Assessment and Feedback is now 87.8% (4.1% above benchmark and a 2.3% improvement on last year)
  • Organisation and Management is rated at 80.5% (compared to 75.1% last year)
  • Academic Support, Organisation and Management and Learning Resources are all now ahead of benchmark
  • Teaching on My Course, Learning Opportunities, Assessment and Feedback, Student Voice and Learning Resources all performed above the wider sector.

We’re also pleased that across all these areas we are performing very well when compared to other universities.

Last year, the University saw some very strong results across the NSS, so we are delighted to see even more positive responses for 2026, reflecting the changes we have made in response to your views. Your feedback, through key surveys like the NSS, and other channels such as course reps, module evaluations and everyday conversations, plays a vital role in shaping the University.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your views, your voice really does make a difference.

Best wishes,

Professor Gill Knight
