This module helps you develop a deeper and more practical understanding of leadership and management in today’s complex organisational environments. You will explore how different leadership and management styles affect key areas such as human resource practices, team dynamics, and change management. The aim of this module is to introduce a range of financial and accounting concepts that will help business students improve their understanding and decision-making skills. You will develop an awareness of how finance operates within organisations and how financial information is used to support business planning and control. The module covers understanding and interpreting financial statements, exploring entrepreneurial and corporate finance, and recognising how budgets contribute to managing and evaluating performance. Learning activities use business-based scenarios to help you interpret financial information and consider appropriate financial decisions. This module is designed to build your confidence and credibility in understanding financial information and to strengthen your ability to engage with financial aspects of management within a range of organisational contexts.

The module has been designed to maximise student engagement and promote students’ employability skills. Students will acquire knowledge in the area professional and practical through face-to-face teaching, online activities and completion of a practical activity. The learning and teaching approach of the module will give the opportunity for students: • To consolidate information taught and test immediate knowledge retention. • To develop and reflect on the acquisition of legal and employability skills The module may provide students with the opportunity to be awarded digital badges for different skills and employability activities. Badges may be awarded for the completion of tasks and/or for completion of a self-directed series of activities. Once the tasks have been competed students will be awarded a digital badge that can be shared on portfolio websites such as LinkedIn. Students will be able to share the badges with prospective employers by adding them to a C.V.

To develop and reflect on the acquisition of legal and employability skills The module will provide an overview of general employment law matters in the context of the employer employee relationship from recruitment to dismissal. It will introduce the key themes Employers need to be aware of in order to comply with their obligations and act within the law. It will explore current issues from time to time for example dealing with underperformance, absenteeism and related contractual matters within the legal framework. Major topics for example dismissal and discrimination and rights within the workplace will also be covered.

Intellectual property is relevant to all who create or innovate. Students will acquire knowledge in intellectual property law, which regulates the use, creation and protection of creative works and inventions. The module focuses on current issues in this fast-developing area, through a social justice lens, considering the perspectives of multiple stakeholders. The module has been designed to maximise student engagement, understanding of the law and promote research skills and employability. Through face-to-face teaching, online activities, and collaboration with their peers, students will acquire relevant knowledge and develop their research, transferable and employability related skills. The learning and teaching approach of the module will give the opportunity for students: • To consolidate information taught and test immediate knowledge retention. • To gain a deeper understanding of legal issues through critical analysis and application of content. • To develop and critically reflect on the acquisition of research, legal and transferable skills. The module may provide students with the opportunity to be awarded digital badges for different skills and employability activities. Badges may be awarded for the completion of tasks and/or for completion of a self-directed series of activities, including research. Once the tasks have been competed students will be awarded a digital badge that can be shared on portfolio websites such as LinkedIn. This ultimate module provides students with the opportunity to undertake an independent study that blends learning from previous subjects. It is designed to showcase individual strengths and apply advanced knowledge to a practical business context. Students will create a professional business project that demonstrates their ability to address real-world challenges or opportunities. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, problem-solving, research planning, data analysis and professional communication skills. By completing this module, students will demonstrate autonomy, innovation and the ability to integrate theory with practice - key attributes for advancing in professional and managerial roles.
