January 2027 Winter Graduation Ceremonies

Register for January 2027 Graduation 

You will be invited to register for graduation when the Graduation Task becomes available in e:Vision.

Registration opens: Midday Monday 12 October 2026.

You do not need to contact us to register before the task is live. If you are eligible, we will email you when registration opens.

You may be invited to register if you:

  • already have a conferred award from 1 July 2026;
  • are expected to have a conferred award by 4 December 2026; or
  • previously deferred your July 2026 graduation ceremony.

Eligibility to attend

To attend a January ceremony, students must:

  • have completed registration by 15 November 2026;
  • have their award formally conferred by the University by 4 December 2026;
  • clear any outstanding tuition fee debt by 4 December 2026; and
  • be eligible to attend the University’s graduation ceremonies by studying through the University’s eligible provision, including on-campus courses, UoW Online, apprenticeship courses and eligible college-based programmes. Students studying through Transnational Education (TNE) or partner institutions will graduate through a ceremony arranged by their partner institution.

If registration is open and you believe you are eligible but have not received an invitation, please log an e:Vision Helpdesk call to ASK so that your eligibility can be checked.

Ceremony date and time

Students can expect to receive information about their ceremony date and time in the following stages:

End of November – Provisional ceremony date - A provisional ceremony date will be provided in November, giving students an early indication of when their ceremony is expected to take place.

Mid December – Confirmed date and time - The ceremony date and individual time slot will be confirmed in December, ahead of ticket sales.

Please note that ceremony arrangements remain subject to change where operationally necessary. Any required changes would be confirmed in advance of guest ticket sales.

Accessibility and seating requirements

Students

As part of the graduation registration task, you will be asked whether you have any accessibility requirements or require additional support.

Please provide details when completing the task so we can make appropriate arrangements to support you. This could include using a wheelchair or mobility aid, being Deaf, hard of hearing, blind or visually impaired, having mobility or access requirements, requiring additional support due to social anxiety or other concerns about attending the ceremony, or requiring any other reasonable adjustment or support to help you participate in your graduation ceremony.

If we need further information, or think you would benefit from discussing the support available, a member of the Graduation Team will contact you.

If your requirements change after completing the registration task, please contact ASK as soon as possible so we can discuss how we can support you.

Guests

When completing the graduation registration task, please let us know if any of your guests have specific accessibility or seating requirements. This may include guests who use a wheelchair or mobility aid, are deaf, or require alternative seating arrangements due to an accessibility need.

At the time of registration, we cannot confirm how many guest tickets will be available. However, please indicate any guests who may require specific seating or accessibility arrangements so that we can take these into consideration when planning the ceremonies.

Providing this information does not guarantee a specific seat or number of guest tickets. It will, however, help us plan appropriate arrangements.

We will contact students who have declared guest seating or accessibility requirements before guest ticket sales open to discuss the arrangements.

Once you have registered your place at graduation, we will continue to send you updates about your upcoming ceremony via email. We will also let you know when guest tickets become available and when academic robes are available to hire.

Graduation – FAQs

Graduation ceremonies will now take place twice a year, in July and January. 

  • Winter Graduation 25th - 29th January 2027
  • Summer Graduation provisionally 26th–30th July 2027

Specific ceremony dates and times will be finalised in December 2026 for January graduation, June 2027 for Summer Graduation.

You will receive further details once they are confirmed. 

Once graduation registration has been completed, visa support letters for students and their guests can be generated via e:Vision.

Guest tickets are released in the lead-up to the ceremonies. 

  • Guest tickets for Winter Graduation are expected to go on sale Mid December 
  • Guest tickets for Summer Graduation are expected to go on sale Mid July.

Invitations are sent before all results are confirmed. To remain eligible to attend, you must achieve a pass and have your award conferred by the published deadline for that set of ceremonies.

If you need to re-sit an assessment that takes you past the award deadline, you will no longer be able to attend the upcoming ceremonies. Instead, your place will be deferred to the next set of ceremonies (Summer or Winter, depending on when you complete your studies). You will also receive an ineligibility email explaining this.

Students on non-standard courses that do not meet the semester two award board deadline will be invited to attend Winter Graduation instead.

No, this change does not impact when you receive your award, only when you attend your graduation ceremony.

Don't worry—graduation ceremonies are large events, with thousands of students from across all courses split between Summer and Winter ceremonies. Whichever period you attend, you are likely to be celebrating alongside fellow students from your course.  

You will be invited to complete the graduation registration task in e:Vision This task will be available on the Graduation page in e:Vision and you must complete it by the given deadline to confirm your attendance. 

If you fail to register your intention to attend in e:Vision by the deadline, you will not be included in the Graduation ceremonies

The registration deadline will be confirmed in your invitation email. It is important to complete the graduation registration task in e:Vision by this deadline to ensure you are included in the ceremony. 

Invites for January 2027 ceremonies will be live from week commencing 12 October 2026. 

If you were expecting an invite to the winter ceremonies and cannot see this in your e: Vision account, please contact ASK@WLV for assistance. 

Yes, you may opt to defer to the next available graduation period, but you may only do this once. 

When you complete the graduation registration task in e:Vision you will have the option to register to attend, defer (once) or tell us you are not attending.

If you achieve your intended award but choose to defer, you will be invited to the next set of ceremonies, after which no further invitations will be issued.  

Yes. Only students who have completed their graduation registration and are confirmed as eligible to attend should book guest tickets.

A minimum of two guest tickets is expected to be available per graduate. Final allocations will be confirmed when booking opens and may be increased, subject to capacity.

Guest tickets are booked online via AXS. Once tickets are available, ceremony-specific booking links will be published on these webpages.

Information on how to book will also be provided to eligible, registered students. Please refer to the tickets section for full details.

Do graduates need a ticket?

Graduates do not need to purchase a ticket. A graduate ticket will be issued on the day of the ceremony when registering at the venue.

Where do the ceremonies take place?

Ceremonies take place at The Halls, North Street, Wolverhampton, with celebrations also taking place on campus.

Are guest tickets refundable?

Guest tickets are non-refundable, so please ensure the correct ceremony is selected when booking.

Can I buy additional tickets?

If additional tickets become available after the initial booking period, further information will be shared with students.

Can children attend graduation ceremonies?

Yes, children are welcome to attend graduation ceremonies. However, they must be accompanied by an adult other than the graduate, as graduands and guests are seated separately during the ceremony.

 

 

Academic dress (gown hire) is provided by Ede & Ravenscroft.

Booking is expected to open in June for Summer ceremonies & December for Winter ceremonies, once the ceremonies have been confirmed.

Registered students will be contacted by email when booking opens, and details will also be published on these webpages.

All graduates attending a ceremony must wear appropriate academic dress.

Yes. All graduates are required to wear the academic cap, gown and hood for the ceremony.

 

 

We fully respect religious garments and head coverings. If wearing the academic cap would interfere with or conflict with your religious head covering or garment, you are not required to wear the cap.

Academic caps, gowns and hoods are sold together as a set. If you are not wearing the cap for religious reasons, you may simply carry the cap with you and wear the gown and hood for the ceremony. The cap can also be worn or carried for photographs where appropriate.

No. Certificates are not issued at the graduation ceremony.

Degree certificates are legal documents and are only issued following completion of the University's formal award and certification processes. To help ensure the security and accuracy of these documents, certificates are not distributed at the ceremony.

Once your award has been formally conferred, you will be able to generate a digital transcript through e:vision which can be shared directly with employers, universities and other third parties if required.

To obtain your physical certificate, you can request one (free of charge) by completing the Certificate Request task in e: Vision. Your certificate will then be produced and sent to the address on record. Please note that processing times may be longer during peak periods, particularly during award and graduation months.
