Business Bulletin April 2026
Business and Human Resource Management
A Well‑Earned Easter Break
Our students kicked off April with a two‑week non‑teaching break for Easter; a reminder that rest and recuperation are just as important as academic progress. The pause offered everyone a chance to recharge before a busy and exciting month ahead!
Strengthening Industry Links
Early in the month, our course leader visited Lifetime Brands to continue building meaningful connections between education and industry. These partnerships play a vital role in enhancing student experience and employability. A huge thank you to Angie from Lifetime Brands for hosting.
An Insightful Field Trip to Mondelez International
The second week of April brought one of the standout moments of the month: a field trip for 21 of our undergraduate students to Mondelez International.
The visit included an engaging and informative HR talk, a fascinating look inside the Cadbury archives, and for some students, an extra trip to Cadbury World.
This was a brilliant experience for everyone involved! Thank you to Libby, Jack and Rich for organising and hosting such a valuable visit.
Wrapping Up Semester 2
Week commencing 20th April marked the final classes of Semester 2; time really does fly! We were fortunate to be joined by Justyna, who delivered an authentic and inspiring session on her career journey, offering students a real-world perspective on the transition from education to employment. Thank you Justyna!

Celebrating Student Achievement
Towards the end of April, we received fantastic news: one of our Level 5 students has successfully secured a summer internship with WR Partners. This is a brilliant achievement and a significant step toward future career opportunities. A massive well done to Patrick and thank you to Nicky for the support that has helped make this possible.
Finally, we would like to wish all of our final year students' good luck as they come to the end of their studies! It has been a pleasure to have you studying at the University of Wolverhampton and we are pleased that you chose Business and HR to further your personal and professional development. Please don't forget to keep in touch!
Hospitality and Tourism
April has been a fantastic month filled with valuable industry engagement, inspiring experiences and opportunities to connect learning with real-world practice.
A key highlight was attending ITT Future You Belfast, which proved to be an incredibly enriching experience. The event brought together industry professionals and students in a dynamic environment focused on employability, career pathways and future opportunities within the sector. We heard from inspiring speakers, including Abbie Stothers and Maria McAlister, alongside a highly engaging student panel featuring Saffron Montgomery, Tyler Murray, Alexander Dunlop and Alex O'Neill.
One of the standout sessions was delivered by Claire Steiner, whose employability workshop left students feeling motivated, confident and future-focused. Opportunities such as this are invaluable in helping students understand the breadth of careers available within tourism and hospitality, while also developing the confidence and professional awareness needed to succeed.
While in Belfast, there was also a light-hearted moment, with what can only be described as an unintentional Game of Thrones-themed experience — a reminder of the powerful role destinations play in shaping tourism narratives and visitor experiences.
Back in the UK, students attended the Food & Drink Expo at the NEC, providing further exposure to current trends, innovation and networking opportunities within the food and beverage sector. Alongside exploring exhibitors and gaining insight into industry developments, there were some memorable moments — including an unexpected encounter with JB Gill during a surprise book signing.
Most importantly, it has been fantastic to see our students fully immersing themselves in these experiences — engaging with industry professionals, exploring future career pathways and applying their learning beyond the classroom. These opportunities are central to our approach, supporting the development of confident, reflective and industry-ready graduates.
As we come to the end of Semester 2, we look forward to welcoming our new Semester 3 students. At the same time, we say goodbye to our outstanding Level 6 cohort, wishing them every success as they take their next steps and looking forward to celebrating their achievements at graduation.
Dr Monica Chauhan recently showcased her innovative pedagogical approach at the Academy of Marketing Thought Leadership Forum, where she presented a creative method for teaching Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning (STP) through the use of LEGO®. Her session demonstrated how hands-on, playful learning can simplify complex marketing concepts, deepen student understanding, and enhance classroom belonging. The presentation was well received by fellow academics, highlighting Dr Chauhan’s commitment to innovative teaching practice and her contribution to advancing marketing education.
